Teacher Incentive Allotment
Big Spring ISD Teacher Incentive Allotment
House Bill 3 (HB 3), passed by the 86th Texas Legislature in June of 2019, established an optional Teacher Incentive Allotment with a stated goal of a six-figure salary for teachers who prioritize teaching in high needs areas and rural district campuses.
The Big Spring ISD Teacher Incentive Allotment was fully approved by the Texas Education Agency in 2023! The initial three-year process included planning and input in year one, data collection in year two, and data submission and validation in year three. As of May 2025, the district has designated 50 teachers! The current allotment across all campuses is $759,948! With each passing year, the allotment continues to grow as we see more and more teachers maintaining and improving their instructional capacity.
The district is committed to the continuation of compensating instructional excellence through the collection of data centered around student growth and teacher observations.
Currently, Big Spring ISD has prioritized the following teacher groups for participation in the Teacher Incentive Allotment:
- K-8 Reading and Math, English 1, English 2, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2
- 5-8 Science and Biology
- 8th Social Studies and United State History
- Prekindergarten
