History of Moss Elementary

  • The original Moss Elementary was opened in 1965. When first built, Moss was intended for Special Education students only. As Big Spring grew the need for more classrooms grew as well, so Moss began housing all students on it's campus. The Moss campus was the originator of the Annual Halloween Parade and the spring Talent Show. These traditions have been going every year for the last 33 years. Along with the spring Talent Show, Moss housed an infamous group known as the Mossettes (photo to come). The Mossettes were comprised of several staff members from Moss.

The new building was completed in 2012, and is the current building where students attend. We currently house about 490 students, including all of the special needs students in Kinder-2nd.
