Mr. Bert Otto, Principal
Thanks for visiting the BSJHS home page. My name is Bert Otto and this will be my first year as a campus principal. Seven of those years were spent at Big Spring High School and one year at Moss Elementary. I am beginning year 29 in education with twenty of those as an assistant football/head baseball coach. This will be my sixteenth year with BSISD. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from College of the Ozarks and my master’s degree from Lamar University. My family and I have been residents of Big Spring since 2006 and have loved it. At BSJHS, our focus is to encourage our students to tap into their talents and potential and represent Steer Nation with pride and character. We truly are STEER STRONG!!!

Mr. Jeff Lane, Associate Principal
Hi, my name is Jeff Lane, thanks for visiting the Big Spring Junior High School page! This is my 3rd year as an AP at BSJHS and there is no place I would rather be. I have spent my entire career with Big Spring ISD, beginning in 1999. I have studied education through attending Harding University and Sul Ross State University and have served the district in several areas, including coaching and special education. I have two sons that attend or have attended school at BSISD and the oldest has returned to teach and coach at the high school! I am so glad to have an opportunity to contribute to the future of, not only the junior high, but BSISD as a whole! This IS the place to be! #steerstrong

Ms. Pamela Taylor-Bonner
It is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce myself to you as one of the Assistant Principals of Big Spring Junior High School. My name is Pamela D. Taylor, and I am honored to be a part of a great campus and community. I was born in a small rural community named Mount Calm, TX; this is where I attended grades K-8 and I graduated from Hubbard High School in Hubbard, TX. After graduating from Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, TX (where I also worked as the Assistant Housing Director for five years), I started my career in education. I worked at Mount Calm ISD in many positions: I taught second grade for fourteen years, then was promoted to the Reading Interventionist for the district, and finally became the Principal for the district (Pre-K – 12th). I knew that there was more for me to learn about the education field, so I decided that I wanted to work in a bigger district. I worked as an Assistant Principal at Sweetwater Middle School during the 2000-2021 school year. I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC.
As an educator, I want to not only help educate our students but to also work with them, so they will become productive citizens when they graduate from high school. It is all about building relationships and understanding our students.
I am excited to be a Steer!
