Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

A uniform, planned, and practiced response to any incident is the foundation of a safe school. The SRP is action-based, flexible, and easy to learn. It rationally organizes tactics for response to weather events, fires, accidents, intruders, and other threats to student safety.

The SRP’s development is ever-evolving, created with extensive collaboration between experts such as first responders, school districts, and families. Its tactics are data-driven, researched, and based on experience and best practices.

Big Spring ISD will utilize the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) model designed by the “I Love U Guys” Foundation. BSISD has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the “I Love U Guys” foundation, which allows the school district to utilize the tools, processes, and methods that they have designed.  The SRP comes highly recommended by the Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC). TxSSC has been tasked with supporting key school safety initiatives and mandates for the State of Texas and the Governor’s Homeland Security Strategic Plan.
