Mr. Jim Wommack
Director of Safety & Security
Jim Wommack came to Big Spring ISD in 2011. Jim brings over 25 years of educational experience to the district. His career began in the classroom as a biology teacher and on the fields coaching both football and track. Jim began his administrative career at Big Spring Junior High School as an assistant principal. Jim’s wife, Carman, is also in the school district. They have two children – Jordan, a 2019 BSHS graduate, and Carter, currently enrolled in BSISD.
Mr. Rick Smith
Threat Assessment Coordinator/Truancy Officer
Rick was born in El Paso. He graduated High School in New Deal Texas and received his BS degree from the University of Texas-El Paso. Rick is a fourth generation educator, and his mother, father, brother and sister worked in the Texas educational system. He also received his Master’s degree in Kinesiology from UTPB and his Educational Administration degree from Lamar University.
Rick began coaching and teaching in 1985. He has taught and coached at Killeen Ellison, Odessa Permian, Argyle, Paris, Kaufman, Lubbock Coronado and Breckenridge.
He began his administrative duties in Big Spring in 2018 as an Assistant Principal at Moss Elementary. 2020-2021 moved to Goliad elementary as Assistant Principal. Currently working at BSISD as Threat Assessment Coordinator and Truancy Officer.
Rick’s wife Terrye, recently retired from BSISD. His son Stormy is a manager at McCoy’s and his daughter is a Marine stationed in California.
Rick’s hobbies are hunting, fishing, gardening, church and community activities.
Mr. David Scott
David Scott was born and raised in Plainview where he graduated from Plainview High School. He received a BA degree in History from Lubbock Christian University and an MA degree in European History from Texas Tech University. David moved to Big Spring with his wife Brittany in 2014 where both began working for BSISD as teachers. David taught US History at Big Spring Junior High from 2015 to 2022 when he moved to the Safety and Security office. David and Brittany have a single child, William. David enjoys working on computers, reading, visiting historical locations, and camping.
Ms. Jessica Diaz
PEIMS Coordinator
Jessica Bravo Diaz is an alumni of Big Spring ISD where she graduated in 2006. After graduation, Jessica went on to receive her Child Development Associate with Howard College and returned to BSISD in 2013 as an attendance clerk as Moss Elementary. She went on to become a secretary at Goliad Elementary as well as the district’s business office secretary in 2019. Jessica began her administrative career in 2020 where she currently serves as the PEIMS Coordinator. She also has two children- Isaiah, a current junior and Abigail, a current freshman, both currently enrolled in BSISD.
